Inflation, rising costs and ticket prices

As you all are aware, prices for basically everything are going up and in many cases they do so quite drastically. This unfortunately also extends to all costs related to events: For Berlin Buzzwords, our main costs are venue, catering, technical equipment (think: recording, livestreaming, lighting, sound, etc.) and staff, like event technicians, bar tenders, security, service staff and then of course there is our four person core event team.

All those areas have suffered massively during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic and most of them are directly or indirectly affected by the current crisis and inflation. Compared to 2019, events in 2022 on average experienced rising costs of more than 40 % and from the first offers and estimates we already have for next year, we expect a further rise of costs of at least 15, if not 20 percent.

For a small company like ours, this is not something we can easily cover and it leaves us little choice than to raise ticket prices for Berlin Buzzwords: Online Only Tickets will now cost 42€ (2022: 39€) Early Bird Tickets will be sold at a rate of 650€ (2022: 610€), Standard Tickets will be at 810€ (2022: 760€) and Last Minute Tickets will be sold at 990€ (2022: 900€).

Since we know that this rise by ~6,6 % for Standard Tickets will affect smaller companies and individual participants with lower budgets more, we decided to do the following:

  • Prices for Reduced Tickets, as well as for Trust Us Tickets will stay the same.
  • We keep the group tickets: Groups of 5 or more participants will be able to get a 10% discount on the Early Bird and Standard Tickets.
  • We also keep offering fully sponsored tickets through our Diversity Ticket initiative to allow members of underrepresented groups within the Berlin Buzzwords community to be part of the event.
  • We also offer free participation of Berlin Buzzwords for anyone taking part in our Helping Hands program.

We sincerely hope that in the coming years we can keep all prices constant and that this year’s rise will not affect anyone’s ability to be part of Berlin Buzzwords.
