Diversity & Inclusivity

Berlin Buzzwords provides a space to discuss storing, processing, streaming and searching large amounts of digital data, with a focus on open source software projects. We believe we can do this best by ensuring that people taking part are valued, respected, accepted and encouraged to fully participate. Part of ensuring a wide range of opinions can be shared at Berlin Buzzwords is ensuring that people from underrepresented groups within the BBUZZ community can attend and engage with the discussions.

For our efforts towards Diversity & Inclusivity, we have recently been awarded a Gold Badge from CHAOSS.

Demographic Survey & Diversity Report

As part of our efforts to to make Berlin Buzzwords a conference that is open, encouraging, and engaging we will be asking speakers and attendees to take part in a demographic survey. We hope that this will help us plan better for future events, and keep Berlin Buzzwords transparent and accountable to our commitments to diversity and inclusion. This data will be displayed after the event in a report, survey responses will be anonymous, and there is no obligation to take part.

You can find the report from Berlin Buzzwords 2021 here.

Feedback

We collect demographic data and feedback of speakers, attendees and volunteers of Berlin Buzzwords in in our annual Demographic & Feedback Survey. Invitations to participate in our Demographic & Feedback Survey will be send to every speaker, attendee and volunteer after the conference. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. You can skip most questions or decline to answer questions you don’t feel comfortable answering. There is also the option of skipping the demographic part of the survey completely.

If you want to give feedback outside of our Demographic & Feedback Survey; if you have questions or concerns about a specific aspect of Berlin Buzzwords, both general or pertaining to Diversity & Inclusivity, or if you want to suggest improvements, please don’t hesitate to contact Sven at feedback@berlinbuzzwords.de.
